Reviews
3 Stars might be judged unfair but as only one night this review is as experienced.
Paid single room supplement and allocated a single room. Room basic incl A/C with a view over the rear. That aside, once curtains drawn the bed was fine, the duvet was thin but an extra pillow provided. Sleep came quickly.
Fridge with pay for drinks and coffee machine was a nice touch as was complimentary two bottles of water.
Wet room shower was hot and good
Evening prebooked meal but only cash for bar & wine
That issue is frustrating and a reduction to 3 stars reflects.
Breakfast was fast and the cheesy egg omelette offered was surprisingly good
Great location. Walking distance to everything. 15min walk to train station. Room was ok, could do with a touch up and lots of marks on walks. Didn't like the fact that could not control the air-con settings as they don't for you from main reception. The room was so hot at times during the night it would wake me up then having to ring the reception just to explain why and what temperature. Otherwise everything else was OK
pretty decent hotel… the wall decorations were interesting and the decor was sort of like a modern hollywood feel which was cool. decent service, not the best breakfast but the rest was fine.
Clean, very friendly team, comfortable bed, great location. But the best bit; got a fab inexpensive pizza restaurant and takeaway too! And just a walk to the Duomo and one of the the most beautiful piazzas I’ve ever seen.
Bike friendly too.
The Continental Hotel in Cremona is not the place of accomodation independent travellers should look for. First of all, its location, far away from the historic centre and from the train and bus stations makes it almost impossible to enjoy the activity rife in the centre: medieval architecture, atmospheric shops, eating and drinking al-fresco and the general atmosphere that an old ambience provides.
This hotel caters mostly for tour groups (mostly German tourists) who come here by coaches all the way from another European country.
I did not stay here and so I cannot judge what the rooms are like but I came here for dinner in the hotel's restaurant: a really fine place with a menu that leaves nothing to be desired. The service in the restaurant was excellent, the food delicious and the general ambience much beyond my expectations. The price you pay for all this is obviously in the top-end bracket.
This hotel is without doubt Cremona's best place of accomodation but... being on a noisy highway and far from the centre, I would never choose to spend my vacation here.
Three weeks later:
These comments were added after I received a notification from Hotel Continental, claiming that 2 of my previous comments were erroneous.
1. Hotel Continental claimed that its location is on the periphery of the medieval centre. My response: the hotel is located on a noisy and busy thoroughfare, almost 2km away from Piazza del Comune, the Duomo and Via Solferino (the centre of all activity in Cremona). Now it's up to the Cremonesi and the visiting tourists to judge for themselves whether Hotel Continental lies within the medieval centre or close enough to make walking from the hotel to the centre an enjoyable experience.
2. I attended for dinner in the excellent hotel's restaurant on three occasions. The food was good, the service impeccable.
On each of these three occasions, the language spoken by the guests in the restaurant was unquestionably German. I also talked to some German guests on my way out. In addition to this, I saw German tourist coaches parked in front of the hotel on two occasions. The tourists were leaving the coach and queuing up to take their luggage from the hold.
My conclusion was obvious: does this hotel cater for tourist groups, mostly German?
In spite of this, I apologise to the management if my review was in any way harmful or misleading.
I stayed in Continental hotel several times. Hotel located near center of the city and big free parking. Room clean, cozy, with little mini bar. Breakfast normal, but without vegetables.
The attendants are polite and helpful.
The rooms are a bit small and the floor's "fluffy" carpets are not quite suited for these pandemic times.
The sound proofing is poor, so you can hear the neighbors on each side as well as the ones above.
Staff very helpfull ,showers inefficient,no hanging hooks for towels etc
